mexico cool corporate gifts

Whether your corporate incentive group is going to Cancun or Cozumel, there are some cool corporate gifts that highlight the local flavor and talent of Mexico. Mexico is known for some great high-quality gifts, and these are perfect for welcome gifts and amenities for your incentive group. Here at Caribbean Trading Company, we have worked with many groups travelling to Mexico over the last decade and have found these gift options to have a high perceived value, of good quality, and indicative of local flavor. Here are some great corporate gifts Mexico:

1. Pewter

Mexican Pewter is a combination of various alloys, consisting mostly of lead-free, non-toxic aluminum. It is different from American and English pewter, which are made primarily of tin and are more delicate. Mexican Pewter is often compared with the look and durability of silver. But unlike silver and other pewter, Mexican Pewter does not tarnish and requires very little maintenance. Each piece of Mexican pewter is separately sand–cast by hand. Molten metal is poured into molds made of sand. The item is then carefully polished by metalcraft artisans, leaving it with a bright and shiny finish that is also slightly rustic. Each piece is an individual product of the craftsman’s hands, and slight variations, minor imperfections, and artisanal touches are therefore to be expected. There are so many great Mexican pewter options for corporate gifts.

2. Tequila

From a bottle of tequila served with pewter shot glasses, to tequila infused chocolates, there are ways to work Mexico’s signature liquor into your corporate gifting. The two basic categories of tequila are mixtos and 100% agave. Mixtos use no less than 51% agave, with other sugars making up the remainder. Mixtos use both glucose and fructose sugars.

Tequila is usually bottled in one of five categories:[9]

  • Blanco (“white”) or plata (“silver”): white spirit, unaged and bottled or stored immediately after distillation, or aged less than two months in stainless steel or neutral oak barrels
  • Joven (“young”) or oro (“gold”): unaged Blanco tequila that is colored and flavored with caramel
  • Reposado (“rested”): aged a minimum of two months, but less than a year in oak barrels of any size
  • Añejo (“aged” or “vintage”): aged a minimum of one year, but less than three years in small oak barrels
  • Extra Añejo (“extra aged” or “ultra aged”): aged a minimum of three years in oak barrels, this category was established in March 2006.

With 100% agave tequila, blanco or plata is harsher with the bold flavors of the distilled agave up front, while reposado and añejo are smoother, subtler, and more complex. As with other spirits aged in casks, tequila takes on the flavors of the wood, while the harshness of the alcohol mellows. The major flavor distinction with 100% agave tequila is the base ingredient, which is more vegetal than grain spirits (and often more complex).

3. Talavera Pottery

Talavera is a type of majolica earthenware, a white and glazed type of ceramic. It is the perfect Mexico cool corporate gifts! Although the Spaniards introduced this type of pottery, ironically the term Talavera is used much more in Mexico than in Talavera de la Reina, Spain. In fact, Talavera is the oldest tin-glazed ceramic in America and it is still being manufactured with the same techniques as in the 16th Century.

In time, a potter’s gild was formed and Ordinances were laid down, that all of the potters that wished to produce Talavera had to follow. This was done so that the quality of the ceramics called Talavera was uniform and that this earthenware had a distinctive style and excellence.

Some of the rules established by the Ordinances were: • The color blue was to be used on the finest ceramic. This was so because the mineral pigments needed to produce this color were very expensive. The customer could then easily distinguish the quality of fine ceramic from one of lesser quality.• To avoid falsifications each master potter had to sign or mark his products. • Three types of earthenware were to be produced depending on the quality of the pieces: Fine, Semi fine, and for Daily use.

4. Mexican Blankets, aka Sarapes

These genuine Mexican sarapes are fantastic gifts and can be used in so many ways. A stunning picnic rug, a gorgeous tablecloth, perfect as a throw over an old sofa to add a splash of colour and life, take one down to the beach instead of a towel, great as a fun colourful bedspread or any other use you can dream up!

The versatility of the blanket, combined with the color scheme, make this item an perfect gift for anyone. The rainbow of colors contained in each blanket assures that it will match any existing décor or style.

Originally these blankets were made of wool and were very heavy. Nowadays, they are typically made of acrylic or an acrylic cotton blend and are machine washable and quite durable.

5. Open Weave Hammocks

As one of the oldest hand crafted hammock designs in the world (dating back almost 1000 years), Mexican hammocks are expertly woven with a unique triple weave method that is the unique trademark of the Mexican hammock and offers the ultimate in comfort and weightlessness. The Mexican hammock industry is based in Merida the capital city of the Yucatan Peninsula,. These hammocks are great for on – the –go seating at the beach or parka and provide excellent ventilation for sleeping on hot summer nights.
